The basics

What is PracticeDepth?
PracticeDepth is an adaptive AI technical interviewer that helps you practice the AI-screening format used by modern hiring platforms. It asks questions based on your level (or the level you want to achieve) across sixteen topics — React, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, REST APIs, databases, testing, security, real-time, DevOps, CS fundamentals, AI engineering and machine learning — lets you answer by voice or text, and corrects you like a senior engineer would.
How does it work?
Pick a mode and answer real interview questions out loud or by typing. PracticeDepth analyses each answer, gives you honest feedback, and drills deeper into the concepts you raise — just like a real interviewer. Every session ends with a topic-by-topic scorecard and a study plan tailored to what you missed.
Who is it for?
Engineers preparing for a technical screen — whether you're targeting a specific role or just want to keep your fundamentals sharp. You can dial the difficulty from junior through to staff level.
What can I practice besides mock interviews?
Learn mode for focused concept practice, standalone code challenges, and CV Defense — an interview grounded in your own résumé and a target job description. Each finished session also generates a personalised study plan.
Can I practice a specific kind of interview?
Yes — that's the Interview Playbook. Each style weights the session the way that kind of screen really runs (backend depth, frontend rendering, distributed systems, security, and more), and each one is honest about what it doesn'tcover so you know what you're still not rehearsing.
Which topics can I drill on their own?
Any of the sixteen. Full-stack sessions draw across the core web stack with one backend language of your choosing — Node.js, Python, Go or Java — while specialist areas like security, real-time, DevOps, AI engineering and machine learning are there as focused single-topic sessions.

Your Depth Passport

What is the Depth Passport?
It's the record your practice builds up: the depth you've demonstrated per topic, an activity history, and a timeline of when you levelled up. It's derived from sessions you've already done — there's nothing extra to fill in.
How is a level earned?
By sustaining it. A level only counts once you've reached it in more than one interview, so a single lucky answer doesn't promote you — and because levels never move down, one bad day can't take away something you've already shown.
Is my passport public?
No — it's private by default. You can publish it at a handle you choose, section by section, and your numeric depth index stays hidden unless you turn it on. Unpublishing takes effect immediately. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Can other people message me?
Only if you publish your passport and opt in to being contacted. Even then it's a relay: neither side ever sees the other's email address. You can block, report, and turn contact off at any time.
Is a passport level a certification?
No. Levels are self-recorded practice results — honest about where you stand, but not a verified credential, and they're labelled that way on the page.

Credits & billing

How does the free trial work?
Just sign up — no card required. You get 200 free credits — enough for a full interview with room to spare — to try everything. When you want more, buy a credit pack; there's no subscription and no commitment.
How do credits work?
Credits are what you spend as you practice — a typical interview costs roughly 80–160 credits depending on its length and whether you use voice. You only ever pay for what you use. Credits are valid for one calendar month — your free signup credits from the day you sign up, purchased credits from the day you buy — and buying more resets the clock on your whole balance.
Is there a subscription?
No. There's no subscription, so there's nothing to cancel. You buy credits once and use them whenever you like. See Pricing for the current packs.
Are there hidden or setup fees?
None. You pay only for the credit pack you choose — no setup fees, no monthly fees, no surprises. Checkout is handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

Voice, privacy & account

Do I have to answer by voice?
No. Voice is optional — you can type every answer if you prefer. When you do speak, your audio is transcribed to text and the interview reasons over the text; text-to-speech that reads questions aloud is off by default and you can toggle it.
What do you do with my CV?
For CV Defense we extract a minimal structured summary and then discard the raw file — we don't store your original CV. You can delete the extracted CV data at any time from Settings. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete your extracted CV data from Settings today, and request full account and data deletion by email. The complete process is described under “Your rights” in our Privacy Policy.
